Hanging Up the Apron
Laura Wolfrom May 15, 2014
Bistro La Belle has been a friendly presence on Main Street in Midway since 1998. We began by purchasing The Main Street Café, at 117 East Main Street, and brought fine dining to Midway, helping to establish the town as a culinary destination. When we grew out of our first location in 2006, we moved into our current building at 119-121 East Main Street.
That year, we endured the downtown streetscape, a reconstruction project that forced street closures and other traffic disruptions for over six months. We had a big party at the completion for our customers who had trudged through the dirt and debris all summer long!
Bistro La Belle obtained the first license for mixed drinks in downtown Midway and introduced classic cocktails to the public in 2006. We eventually partnered with an art gallery and hung fine art in our gallery bar, a collaboration that we enjoyed. We served lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch over the past 16 years, and during the last two, I’ve been making lunch for the greatest group of folks I’ve ever known, and it has been such a happy time for me.
We have enjoyed being a part of your lives. The friendships of both my employees and customers have sustained me through the years of challenges and changes, and I cherish them. I hope to stay in touch with you, because you have been the best part of this journey.
The stars have aligned and I’m handing over the keys to new owners at the end of May.
Thanks for your patronage ~ Laura
